Details

User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.1; WOW64; rv:37.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/37.0 Build ID: 20150415140819 Steps to reproduce: I reply to a business email containing some sort of image, usually a logo. Actual results: I hit reply, compose my response, then hit send. It starts scrolling and scrolling, saying it is "attaching". If I tell it to stop, then hit save, I can usually send the email successfully after that. If my message is particularly long, or I have been interrupted in my work, and more time has passed than usual, then it won't attach at all. It also won't save to the Drafts folder. I have to copy my message, close the window, then restart my reply with a new window. If I remember to hit the save button right after I have hit the reply button, but prior to typing my reply, then I usually don't have this problem. I also don't have this problem when I retrieve a message from the Drafts folder, that has been saved there. In the last two days, the problem has gotten worse. I have had to actually close Thunderbird and reboot the program, in order to be able to reply to emails. Not consistently, but several times yesterday and also the day before. Expected results: I should be able to hit Reply, type my answer, attach attachments, if applicable, hit Send and be done. I also should be able to consistently save a message to Drafts, when needed, without having to copy my message, close my window and start over.
In the past, when I went back and eliminated the logos from the email, by clicking on them and deleting, I would no longer have the problem either. This has been going on, off/on, through various versions of Thunderbird. This is the worst one so far. It didn't used to do this so consistently.

Stephanie, things wrt the bug you see should get a lot better in TB38. Autocompaction will then no longer mess up message keys which makes the temporary pic links break. Yes, it's very annoying. thanks for reporting In the meantime, adding this to the cesspool.
