Mhaigh and I talked about possibly doing this. In L, it's pretty standard to have that icon in the top right.
As our Settings grows and grows, I think this would be a really useful feature.

I'm interested to see if this came up as part of the settings user research. It seems like it might be more effort than it's worth, I'm not sure how much users would use this.
Agree with Margaret. The settings screen isn't that substantial. Plus, I hate search boxes for programs. If you know what you're searching for you know how to get there. If you don't know what settings are available to search for, what's the benefit of a search box?

@Anthony: Meanwhile we restructured our settings screen. Do you still think a search would be helpful? It will require high effort. Marking as P5 for now.

I think it'd still be interesting. But, perhaps there are lower cost ways to validate this before investing the effort.
I think P5 is good for now :)

Building a search for this would be easy and would save me (and possibly others) a lot of time. Most of the time i only want to delete cookies or the cache. But nearly every time i have to click trou all of these tabs to see where it is

Great! Would you be able to submit a build so I can check this out on my device?
