Added Mary and George - Michael, they should be in the loop to see the creative asset and the links and then we can get the Tile into Directory Tiles.

Mary - will you pass the Tile through Justin, or shall I work directly with Content Services engineering?
Three comments:

1) The photo on the tile has very little gender or racial diversity. Is this the image you want to draw people into the German community? My guess is that you'd want to pick something that more people of different backgrounds would relate to.

2) From what I know, an image closer up (faces visible) with 2-3 people having fun is likely to attract people to click. A group shot like the one you have doesn't really tell much of a story -- and you're in the storytelling business.

3) For the landing page, I would suggest putting the email signup as the first element on the page after the header if you're trying to maximize engagement. This isn't about people reading the page and then making an informed choice, it's about you getting the chance to talk with them. This suggestion is one of the basics of online engagement -- we're changing the main contribute page to reflect this tactic/strategy.
Thanks for your input, George. I've sent your feedback to our mailing list to discuss.
Hi all,
I'll be responsible for making sure we have creative/copy review as well as implementing the execution of the Tile in Directory Tiles.

Michael, feel free to ping me once you have had your discussions with the mailing list! Just to be extra clear - the purpose of this Tile is to encourage more people to contribute/volunteer in the German community for Mozilla by signing up, correct?

Can you please also let me know when the CTA link you're thinking of using is live? Thanks.

Thanks,
Jean

I will! Yes, the goal is to make people aware of the volunteers and therefore inspire them to contribute as well. We have a lot of Firefox users in the German-speaking countries and I'm sure not many of them have considered contributing to Mozilla. Therefore we think it's valuable to have a quick introduction into the community and make them get in touch with us for further contributions!

What can you do if Germans, Austrians and Swiss are typically fair-skinned? The ethnic composition according to http://www.lexas.de/europa/deutschland/index.aspx is 91.5% "white", the rest comes from mostly European countries, that is fair to olive-skinned, so you can't see them in a crowd. There are 24 people on the photo, one is from Albania, the only women on the photo, if my memory serves, is not a native German speaker, and you can also not see my Australian (not Austrian) citizenship. So we have 3/24=12.5% non-Germans, way more than the national average.

That there are not enough women involved in this technical field is a general problem of society, which is reflected in the composition of this group. But you are right, one of 24 is below average.

Regarding George's comment:
1) see above, there is the same opinion on our mailinglist
2) we think that the group picture is nice
3) we have GA tracking to track the clicks, if we see that this does not turn out well, we can still react

Therefore I think we can go ahead with this. Come find me at the Participation rooms (Delta, Raven rooms) for any questions.
Hi all, adding Aaron for creative review as he needs to vet all Tiles before going live.

Thanks,
Jean

Hi everyone - I approve this creative.

As mkohler mentioned, if this doesn't perform well, perhaps try zooming in on several faces in the shot - instead of the entire group.

What title should the tile have?

Let's go for "Mozilla-Gemeinschaft" for now
Jean is actually final sign off!

Please try to document the process to make it smooth for other communities that we hope to add in the coming months. Thanks!

Annelise and I are working on this. Who on the Participation team should be the contact?

That would be me for the moment.
Hi Michael,

From reading the above chain it looks like there are some outstanding concerns with the landing page flow and photo used.

Re: landing page. Please confirm if this is the final landing page, and no changes will be made: http://mozilla.de/gemeinschaft/index.html

Re: photo. Are we keeping this photo or updating per the notes above? Is there any concern is that the group picture (on the landing page) has some members who look less than excited about being photographed? Is there an alternative where everyone is smiling?

Thanks,
Annelise

Please bear with us as Patrick, Annelise and I figure out this process. Promise it'll be much smoother the next time around!

1)URL is correct: http://mozilla.de/gemeinschaft/index.html
2)Title: Mozilla-Gemeinschaft
3)Photo is approved

Just one last question: This is for the "de locale" to Germany, Switzerland and Austria?
Also from our side a go for this. If we need to make improvements (and we will know when to do it since we have metrics), we will get back to you. There will be no changes without your consent.

This is for the DE locale for Germany, Switzerland and Austria. We might change the tile to another page for Switzerland for the future, but this won't happen within the next months.

Michael - are you comfortable with doing just DE locale without any country restrictions? I would like to think we can get German volunteers from any country they are in. Granted, most of the volunteers would be coming from the three countries mentioned above. Let us know! Thanks.
I was under the impression that we need to have Locale+Country, but if only Locale is possible, this is even better. Go for it!
Yes we can do locale!

With that said, Tile is in the system to be pushed out: https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1178960

I'm going to go ahead and close this bug. Thanks for being patient with us during the process. Any questions, let us know.

Michael - feel free to reopen this bug should you see opportunities from your data to optimize.
