## pipelight
# deb http://repos.fds-team.de/stable/debian/ jessie main
Actual results:
CPU Usage is 25%, Mem file jumps to 6.5 GB (yes GB). Kernel gets massive slow down. Eventually (after 60ish seconds, it's auto killed by the system) Screen Shot attached
Expected results:
It should've opened quickly and not hogged up system resources for the entire system.
--safe-mode (with both options toggled) have been tried. Safe mode same result, regular mode with everything disabled, same result.

But since your screenshot shows the error console thunderbird is running. What you mean is not working?
The error console is from the --jsconsole command or whatever option is avail to show the error messages. No gui ever displays otherwise. Just high cpu usage, r runaway and auto kill

Does mozilla supplied version work?
Or newer version 38? https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/thunderbird/
Severity: normal → major
Flags: needinfo?(szupek)
This is the mozzila supplied version obtained from here ( http://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla.org/thunderbird/releases/latest/linux-x86_64/en-US/ ) and it's also the latest available release

Yeah, at that link only v31.7 is marked as latest.
Did this problem start suddenly?
Is TB killed by the OOM killer for eating all available RAM+swap? Or why is it killed by the system?
Do you have a large number of messages in your Inbox and are your account in TB set to automatically download (pop3) or synchronize (IMAP) messages from the server?

And, did you retry version 24 and get same result?
