Steps to reproduce: 1. Open thunderbird and click the "chat" button bellow the "Create a new account" title. 2. A pop up box will appear, and click "IRC", click next 3. provide your IRC nick in the username field and "irc.mozilla.org" as the Server. 4. You can provide password or local alias if you want at the next steps, thus finish the account setup. 5. Now open the chat tab, click show accounts Actual results: The IRC account with the irc.mozilla.org server is not getting connected. but other IRC account like chat.freenode.net is working fine, I tried to connect another account with irc.mozilla.org, the problem is with this server only, other servers are ok. Expected results: Accounts with irc.mozilla.org should be working fine.
Hmm...interesting, I'm connected to to moznet right now with Thunderbird and Instantbird. What port are you trying to connect to? Are you using SSL? Is 38 the version of TB that you're running? Did this account ever work or is it brand new? Could you please attach the protocol log (right click, copy debug log) so we can see what's going on at the protocol level? Thanks! (This should be automatically scrubbed of any passwords, but it will have your nick in it.)

(attached troubleshooting information) Yes, the account was working fine till the day before yesterday, the port number is 6697, Yes I am using SSL. I tried port number 8443 too, but problem remains. Did not understand the matter of protocol log, please tell me how to find it, I will surely attach,

I tried port number 8443 too, but > problem remains. If it used to be working, this implies something with your network. As far as 6697 over SSL is the correct port to be using. Are you being blocked by a firewall? > Did not understand the matter of protocol log, please tell me how to find > it, I will surely attach, On the account manager (the window from your first screenshot, attachment 8626517 [details]), please right click on the account and choose "Copy debug log". It will copy a bunch of information into your clipboard, which you can paste into this bug.
Here is the protocol log: (Thunderbird 38.0.1 (20150608103712), Gecko 38.0.1 (20150608103712) on Windows NT 6.1) [26-Jun-15 19:22:03] LOG (@ prpl-irc: Socket.connect resource:///modules/socket.jsm:148) Connecting to: irc.mozilla.org:6697 [26-Jun-15 19:22:03] DEBUG (@ prpl-irc: Socket.onTransportStatus resource:///modules/socket.jsm:557) onTransportStatus(STATUS_RESOLVING) [26-Jun-15 19:22:03] DEBUG (@ prpl-irc: Socket.onTransportStatus resource:///modules/socket.jsm:557) onTransportStatus(STATUS_RESOLVED) [26-Jun-15 19:22:03] DEBUG (@ prpl-irc: Socket.onTransportStatus resource:///modules/socket.jsm:557) onTransportStatus(STATUS_CONNECTING_TO)
Very strange. If you disable SSL in the account options and use port 6667, does it work?

(In reply to aleth [:aleth] from comment #5) > Very strange. If you disable SSL in the account options and use port 6667, Disabled SSL > does it work? It did not work, btw, I have the same setting on both account, but chat.freenode.net is fine, and irc.mozilla.org is having this trouble with any nick or account.
Not sure if this is related to my ISP, http://forums.mirc.com/ubbthreads.php/topics/232524/ISP_will_not_allow_IRC I have seen one of my friend (with the same ISP) has the same issue, but other friends have nothing like this.
I have contacted my ISP, somehow this was blocked by them, as this is no thunderbird issue and now I could recover this, This bug is now going to be invalid, For those who have not understand the reason of this issue and marking this invalid, please read the problem described in the link in comment 7 Thanks everyone for helping.
