RESOLVED DUPLICATE of bug 1167850

Details

I tried to add an RSS feed to my subscription by using a URL like "file:///path/to/feed". So I select an "RSS-News & Weblogs" account, click "manage subscriptions", fill the field "Feed URL" and click "Add". This results in Thunderbird telling this is no valid feed although the URL points to a file containing valid RSS2 XML. The exact same file works correctly when served via HTTP. "file://" URLs are supported widely in Mozilla products, so Thunderbird should also be able to resolve them to local files.
