In my envisioned GeckoView-consumer world, we will need to find (or build) a way for the GV consumer to do things like register profile-after-change components and set Gecko prefs very early in the Gecko process lifecycle. (We have some precedent for that already.) This is actually quite re-assuring: the amount of *Gecko* level hackery here is pretty minimal!
