>>Project/Request Title:
Need texts for Kinderfox splash screen

>>Project Overview:
We are creating a kid-restricted version of Firefox for Android (tablet only) in order to:
- Make browsing the web more accessible for kids using a less complicated tool; and
- Provide a tool for parents that gives a better sense of control with what their kids can and cannot see and do on the web.

We need help on creating 1 - 2 lines of text for the first-run splash screen, to inform the audience (both parent and child) that "Firefox is different because you are in a restricted profile".

At the same time, we don't want to offend the children who are using Kinderfox. If possible, incorporate the concept of "Keeping your child browse safely and happily".

Due to the urgent situation, if possible, we would like to see some ideas before July 31, 2015.

Hi all,

Sorry for the delay here. It's been a hectic week.

Looking at comment 0, it seems things may have changed a bit since I first talked to Sam about this. It seems we want to create copy for a first run type of screen that shows up when someone launches this mode for the first time. What I'm not clear about is how someone would know about this feature or know to enable it in the first place, so it feels odd to tell them about it on launch.

I started to think of a couple of headlines, like "Welcome to a safer Web" or "The Web made simple," but I'd like to better understand the flow before proceeding. As it is, I'm a little confused.

The other thing that caught my eye was this line:

"We are creating a kid-restricted version of Firefox for Android"

Is this indeed a separate version of the app? If so, that probably invalidates the above questions, but brings up a whole host of new ones, like what is it going to be called, how is going to be promoted, etc. That would probably require a bigger discussion with more people (including from the Brand team).

Sorry again for asking these questions so late, but any guidance would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Matej,

Please see the attached files for screenshots of the flow.

We feel that the texts you provided doesn't feels quite 'right' yet.
It's not about us giving new or kid-friendly features - we just strip some functionality out.

We prefer something like: we're making the client leaner and therefore easier to use' type of message, and/or maybe a message saying that parents have some more control over how the Web is being navigated.

Thanks!

Hi Matej,

Thanks very much for the new texts! :)

We like the "Stay safe and in control with this simplified version of Firefox" as the best out of them.
Because it speaks to both parents as well as the kids who'll be using it.

So maybe we try and tweak a little more on that?

Could you give me a little more direction? It's hard to know what tweaks to make without knowing what isn't working about it for you. Is there something missing? Something you'd like to remove?

Any further info would be appreciated. Thanks.

You know what? Thinking about this overnight, I think we should go with the that text without tweaks. If we feel tweaks are needed for the next version, we can - but let's go with this!

thanks, Matej, for all the help here!
