User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 10.0; WOW64) AppleWebKit/537.36 (KHTML, like Gecko) Chrome/44.0.2403.125 Safari/537.36 Steps to reproduce: 1. Updated my windows 10 to RTM version (build 10240). 2. Started Thunderbird. Actual results: Folder names became unreadable (looks like encoding error) and did not open. When I tried to open them, I got error message "Unable to open the summary file for Inbox. Perhaps there was an error on disc, or the full path is too long." Ater that I tried to repair folders, restart thunderbird, create new profile, even reinstall thunderbird, removing all local files related to it from my AppData directory. Nothing helped. After I add my account to thunderbird, there appears only one folder with name "INBOX" and when I try to open it, it gives me aforementioned error message. FYI my account uses IMAP server and localized folder names. Expected results: Just open Inbox folder and show lis of it's messages.
Does it also happen in safe mode? https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/safe-mode

> Folder names became unreadable (looks like encoding error) Please post a screen shot with "add an attachment" so we understand what you are seeing > When I tried to open them, I got error message "Unable to open the summary file for Inbox. ..." All folders are impacted not just Inbox, correct? > When I tried to open them, You mean single clicking on them, correct?

I've removed profile folder comletely from the computer with all folders and everything. After I added my mail account back, there was only INBOX folder. It's name is uppercase, but readable. Unreadable folder names looked somewhat like "KjgUbHGsdFsdf". Original names were cyrillic. > All folders are impacted not just Inbox, correct? Before > You mean single clicking on them, correct? Yes.

Does the account get mail? Having only an inbox usually means the account can not connect to the server. Could you try an English locale. You obviously read English so it will not be all gibberish to you. Now I do not know how this works in Windows 10. So we will learn together I suppose. Can you go to the help menu and select trouble shooting information and click the show folder button. In earlier Windows version with the path shown, you could click on in in Explorer and it would convert to something you could select with a mouse and copy with Ctrl+C. Please see if that works in 10. What is the full path? Now open the imap mail folder the server name folder and your inbox folder What is the full path? I am thinking that you are getting errors about possible path length errors, we should eliminate that as a possible cause early on. The windows limit is 255 characters, and even on English versions 100 of those can easily be used in the path getting to the profile folder. I do not know how verbose Cyrillic is in length, but in French it takes a lot more space to say the same thing. Is this only the account information that is showing up incorrectly or the language elements in the menus as well?

Menus and other user interface elements are shown correctly, but I'm using en-GB version of thunderbird. My system locale is also en-GB.

Nikolay, any idea what be going on here, and whether the cyrillic aspect is relevant?? > C:\Users\Администратор\AppData\Roaming\Thunderbird\Profiles\2v5w6tji.default\ImapMail\imap.mail.ru\INBOX.sbd is only 121 char

I doubt that, this could be permission issue for some of folders though.
