User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.1; WOW64; rv:39.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/39.0 Build ID: 20150630154324 Steps to reproduce: Tried to change folder view (All/Unified/Unread/Favorite/Recent), using application menu (button at right end of mail toolbar). Actual results: Nothing. This option is not available from the application menu (or, I can't find it). In the menu bar, the option is View / Folders. Circumvention is to turn on the menu bar. Request 1: If this option is added to the application menu, please add it under View, not under Options, for consistency with the menu bar. Request 2: Update the Help article "Switching the folder pane view", https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/switching-folder-pane-view#thunderbird:win7:tb38 , to indicate the result (either how to change folder view with application menu, or that you cannot change folder view with application menu). Expected results: Should have been able to change folder view from application menu.
Component: Folder and Message Lists → Toolbars and Tabs
In AppMenu it has it's own menu on the left side (Folders). This is to make it faster accessible.
I apologize. In one way, I am very embarrassed to have missed the separate Folders option on the AppMenu. In another way, I will point out that making Folders a separate option on the AppMenu, instead of putting it under View as it is on the menu bar, had an effect (for me) that was the exact opposite of making it more accessible. And this is not as bad as Layout, which was removed from View but was not made a separate category, and was put under Options. Please update the Help article as mentioned in Request 2 above. Current: Select View | Folders to choose the view you want to use. Suggested: Select View | Folders from the menu bar, or select Folders from the application menu, to choose the view you want to use. If you prefer, I can try to do this update myself - if you want to entrust it to someone who can't even see an option on a menu.
I have submitted for review the above update to the Help article.
Summary: Folder view cannot be set from application menu. → Update documentation on {View > Folders > All | Unified | Unread... } wrt application menu (layout differences between main menu and app menu)
Component: Toolbars and Tabs → Help Documentation
I have submitted for review a further update to the Help article: Mention how to make a folder a "favorite" from the application menu.
Is there something I should do to notify reviewers that an update to a Help article is awaiting review?
Thanks for the update! I've reviewd the article. FYI we don't really file bug reports for review requests, the reviews just happen as people doing reviews have the time. (you can also help with reviews) Likewise, article change discussion occurs on the discussion tab of the article under Editing Tools. For more general discussion about SUMO (support.mozilla.org) see https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/forums or for Thunderbird-related chat visit #tb-support-crew at irc.mozilla.org Keep up the good work.

Thank you for approving the update, and for the kind words, encouragement, and direction. This item started off as a regular bug report, with the title "Folder view cannot be set from application menu", which was a complete mistake on my part. The update to the Help article was a secondary request. After Richard Marti disposed of the supposed bug, only the documentation update remained, to help other users avoid making the same mistake.
