Tested with build 2002010903, Win95. On file manager or windows desktop, Send
To->Mail Recipient does open a message compose window, but it also opens a
browser window.
I'm filing this bug because bug 102821 is verified as fixed. I think we should
leave this bug open until it is fixed on trunk too.

I'm running Win2000 with build 2002011503 (on of the first couple of trunk
builds with MAPI working).
Initial situation:
* Mozilla loaded, with a browser and the main mail window open.
* IE loaded on a page with a mailto link in it.
OK, now the first time I clicked on the mailto link, a browser window opened
behind IE with mailto:address in the address bar. Each further click on the line
opens a new browser window with mailto:address in the address bar, and also a
mail compose window. Again, these are all behind the IE window.

R.K.Aa mentioned that this opened an IE window. I experience the same problem,
but a Mozilla Browser window opens up.
This only happens if mozilla is not running. If an instance of the browser is
open, a compose call works perfectly.

My database (Asksam) includes mailto: links. When I click on a link, Mozilla
opens a compose window (correct). It also opens a browzer window (incorrect).
This happens when I already have both Mozilla and Mail open. I am using Mozilla
1.6 on Windows XP.

I have that problem with Mozilla 1.7 and Windows XP too.
The reason is a wrong registry entry (in Windows XP):
HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID\{29F458BE-8866-11D5-A3DD-00B0D0F3BAA7}\LocalServer32
This entry needs the value "C:\\Programme\\mozilla.org\\Mozilla\\Mozilla.exe
-mail" instead of "C:\\Programme\\mozilla.org\\Mozilla\\Mozilla.exe"
After that the mail window will be started if mapi is initiated, not the browser
window.

With Thunderbird 1.0+0302 set as the default mail client, the value of that
registry key is set to
<path>\THUNDE~1.EXE /MAPIStartUp
And Mozilla 1.8b-0120 shows a similar
<path>\mozilla.exe /MAPIStartUp
With TB, if this starts the program, this opens both the 3pane and the compose
window; with Mozilla, it starts with a browser window and a compose window.
If the program is already open, the only new window is the compose window.
I tried changing the path to
<path>\mozilla.exe -compose
and got *two* compose windows.
Summary: When intitiating a compose window via mapi, it also opens a browser window → When initiating a compose window via mapi, it also opens a browser window

I haven't seen this in recent builds of TB. Can any of the CC list members or the reporter tell us if they still see this ?
