IN current nightly Linux builds many youtube videos only play the first 2 seconds. This does not happen in release, beta or aurora.

I Just verified that the video linked in the URL field fails under Linux in current nightly but plays fine under Windows.

I've seen this on my profile in 64-bit Nightly/Win 7, but in safe mode, all the videos I tried are working. I suspect an extension isn't working correctly, but I didn't have an issue until I updated today. And what happens for me, is that video starts loading, and plays one second of sound, and then I see the buffering animation. It never recovers. I can load all sorts of other tabs, but Youtube has lost it.

I am not at all sure what fixed this, but the issue seems to be gone in 20150829 nightlies.

IT seems appropriate that the song I put in the URL is Kink Midas in reverse, because I am going to do an hg bisect in reverse to find the "unregressor".

You might wonder why I am concerned as long as it works. Well, if what "fixed" it was a backout I want to make sure to add this as blocking the fix that was backed out.

I'm still waiting for my update (15:00GMT, 11:00 local) right now. Sniff. I feel so unloved! /rollseyes
I've noticed that if the videos are short enough (under a minute), they play the one or two seconds of audio, the video pauses as well, and then it ends as if it actually had completed the playback.
And since I'm the only "extra" on the bug list email, I'll say that I agree, whatever got backed out needs to be blocked over this. I'll run my 32-bit Nightly under this profile and see if it's still a problem in 32-bits, versus 64-bits. :/

Yeah, safe mode works in both 32-bit and 64-bit, but even the 32-bit Nightly has issues with YouTube, just like my 64-bit. Should have tried this yesterday.

Look this is my bug safe mode makes no difference for me. I am bisecting to try to determine why it is fixed in today's build if it worked with safe mode before for you that is not the same issue I reported in this bug.

I have no clue. The tree was closed before the Windows builds were done, so no updates for me. Tomorrow.
Other videos have been working for me on Facebook. Now, Flash or HTML (HTML definitely is set for YouTube), I have no clue.
