User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.1; WOW64) AppleWebKit/537.36 (KHTML, like Gecko) Chrome/45.0.2454.85 Safari/537.36 Steps to reproduce: Open a Firefox window, and set the computer to go to sleep once or twice. (The bug doesn't seem to happen after every sleep, only some.) Another person experiencing the same issue (https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1075688) had the hardware of Intel i5 3570 8GB Ram and AMD Radeon HD 7800. Actual results: The Firefox window goes blank. There's some flickering when you mouse over some of the tabs. The issue isn't resolved unless you close all Firefox windows/processes and restart. Expected results: Firefox windows should work normally and not go blank.

Could you test with HWA disabled? https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/forum-response-disable-hardware-acceleration (restart FF to apply)
I haven't experienced this bug after disabling hardware acceleration. AMD says my graphics drivers are the latest. I also haven't experienced this bug in Firefox Developer Edition, which says it has hardware acceleration enabled.
Whiteboard: [gfx-noted]
I also had the same problem, also with a AMD Radeon HD 7700 Also, disabling HWA seems to make the problem go away.
Jeff, where should this bug go?

i'm confirming this bug based on a number of similar reports by users in the sumo forum (also with AMD Radeon HD 7800, R9 270x devices): https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1075688

Should we be blacklisting?
I have the same problem on Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit on an nVidia GeForce GT 555M/Intel HD3000 system. In researching this problem I have read others who have reported that disabling HWA does not work around the issue.

Rob, your Intel drivers are too old (2011), can you update them please.
Installed latest intel drivers, the problem persists. Driver Date: 5-26-2015
(In reply to Rob Basler from comment #13) > Installed latest intel drivers, the problem persists. Thanks, does the problem occur if you use a new Firefox profile with no add-ons installed?
Yes, the problem occurs with a new profile with no add-ons. It appears to be a problem with the window not being invalidated after waking from sleep. Some elements will redraw when the mouse goes over them, pressing F5 to refresh fixes more, but not everything.
Thanks again, Rob. Can you confirm which Firefox version this starts for you? You reported Firefox 42 earlier but it would be good to know if this started in an earlier release. You'll find our releases archived here: http://archive.mozilla.org/pub/firefox/releases/
It goes back a couple months, so I wouldn't be surprised to find that it starts with 40 as specified in the original bug report.
(In reply to Rob Basler from comment #17) > It goes back a couple months, so I wouldn't be surprised to find that it > starts with 40 as specified in the original bug report. Since we're unable to reproduce this locally we'll need your help to narrow this down. I'd appreciate it if you could at least test Firefox 39 to confirm the issue does not reproduce and then Firefox 40 to confirm that it does.
Firefox 39 has the problem, although it does not seem as bad. It took quite a few sleeps for it to reproduce where 42 would do it nearly every sleep. On wake it looked like the screenshot, only partially white, not completely white like it usually is. Screenshot: http://static.onemanmmo.com/articleimages/firefox39.jpg I'll install 38 and see what happens.
I've run 38.0 all weekend, multiple sleeps, no problems, so it seems the problem was introduced in 39.0.
(In reply to Rob Basler from comment #20) > I've run 38.0 all weekend, multiple sleeps, no problems, so it seems the > problem was introduced in 39.0. Thanks, that helps to narrow it down. Could you try to narrow this down further by checking some Nightly builds from that timeframe? Firefox 39 started in mozilla-central on February 23 through March 30. Feb: http://archive.mozilla.org/pub/firefox/nightly/2015/02/ Mar: http://archive.mozilla.org/pub/firefox/nightly/2015/03/
Version: 40 Branch → 39 Branch
There are a hundred builds in each of those folders, all with different names, which do I choose?
For each day of the month, you select the repository "mozilla-central", then after that you download the version according to your OS (Win,OSX,,Linux).
I've worked through all those builds, the only one I haven't been able to reproduce the bug on is the first one http://archive.mozilla.org/pub/firefox/nightly/2015/02/2015-02-23-10-30-44-mozilla-central/firefox-39.0a1.en-US.win32.installer-stub.exe I have found that it reproduces most often after the laptop goes to sleep then hibernates itself.

same pb today with FF 42.0.1 (sources 20151118)
The 2015-02-26 build has the bug. With both the -25 and the -24 builds the installer errors out while downloading. I tried several times with both, I don't have problems with internet connectivity otherwise.
FF 43.0b8 is also affected by this problem
It looks like the bug was introduced in the 2015-02-24 build, I was able to reproduce the bug in that build.

Thanks, this gives us the following list of changes: https://hg.mozilla.org/mozilla-central/pushloghtml?fromchange=9b077c6f3d02&tochange=368c62292249 Jacek, this is a shot in the dark but do you think your bug 1133689 could have caused this?

[Tracking Requested - why for this release]: regression since Firefox 39 causes black window when resuming from sleep.
It seems very unlikely that it's caused by this commit. It only made a destructor private, so it shouldn't change any behavior (except maybe making the code better optimized).

Thanks Jacek. In that case I'm not sure what else in the above range could have caused this and will need a developer to take a look.
I can confirm that I am seeing this running Windows 10 using the latest Intel Beta driver for the HD 520 GPU https://downloadcenter.intel.com/download/25848/Intel-Beta-Graphics-Driver-for-Windows-7-8-1-10-15-40- and Firefox 45 Build 20160303134406
I have an Intel GPU and i am on 45.0.1 I don't use hibernation or sleep mode. Every day i see this bug coming up, when i go in the taskbar and click on firefox, i do see the white screen. Very annoying. I hope someone can fix.
Guess what it just happend right now. I have the latest stable Intel driver, Windows 10 is fully updated. See screenshot: http://i.imgur.com/kfmsuE1.png
Did you test with OMTC disabled? (about:config > layers.offmainthreadcomposition.enabled=false, restart)
