It's a malware pop-up which call a looping JS alert box each time you try to close the tab.
But the tab can be closed after 2 or 3 times.

Any ideas how to prevent this?

Maybe we could prevent the page from reloading when the message is shown.

Apparently they have changed the webpage, doesn't work anymore.
It's a known malware page, in general, each time you want to close it, it loads an alert box to "catch" the focus, but Firefox has a feature since a few years to stop the display of a looping alert box after 2 or 3 times, so the user is able close the tab.
Honestly, I don't see what Firefox could make more.
The page seems to have changed since this was reported. I don't get any alerts at all. Without a testpage, there isn't an awful lot we can do here. :-\

I'm confused though - if these are really alert()'s, they should be tab-modal and so closing the tab while the alert is up should be possible. Isn't it? This is certainly the case for the test in bug 1205678. If the strategy here was the same, it seems like we could mark this as a duplicate and continue the conversation there (because it's easier to do so with a working testcase).

If I was closing slow this page I can't do it, as it creates infinite loop.
But fast clicking close with "double click" additional mouse button do the job, but it's not the perfect idea and can be undiscovered by user.

Yep, this will be the best and unfortunately I didn't get a dump of this page.
