Windows 7 Ultimate SP 1 (x64) Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.1; WOW64; rv:41.0) Gecko/20100101 SeaMonkey/2.38 I unchecked all checkboxes at [Edit > Preferences > Advanced > Find As You Type]. Using about:config, I discovered that accessibility.typeaheadfind was still set True. This broke AdBlock Plus 2.6.11 in that I could no longer create new filter entires. On beginning to type a new entry, my cursor would jump to the first instance of what I had typed. I am not sure this is a symptom of bug #254592, so I have submitted this as a new bug report.
"accessibility.typeaheadfind" is the toolkit name of the preference; the SeaMonkey name is "accessibility.typeaheadfind.autostart" which should have been set to false when you unticked it. Bug 1133981 broke this for SeaMonkey although bug 1187634 should have fixed it again. Were you using the findbar or not? (Were you trying to use the findbar or not? One of the problems that bug 1133981 caused was confusion as to whether the findbar was active.)
I do not use the Findbar at all. I set browser.findbar.enabled to False so that I can get the small Find popup dialogue. The dialogue was not present when I went to [Edit > Preferences].
FYI. https://issues.adblockplus.org/ticket/3129 fixed it in its dev build.
