RESOLVED DUPLICATE of bug 424219

Details

User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 5.1) AppleWebKit/537.36 (KHTML, like Gecko) Chrome/45.0.2454.101 Safari/537.36

Steps to reproduce:

1) In any recent Thunderbird version, set Options->Display->Advanced->Reading to "Immediately On Display"
2) In Options->Privacy->Uncheck "Allow remote content in messages"

Actual results:

The above combination is useful for screening messages prior to allowing remote content to load, which often signals a SPAMer that your message was received. The trouble is, anytime you click/highlight an email in the email list pane, the keyboard focus is lost in the list pane while the page loads, which seems odd considering most of the page's graphics can't load without permission. This makes it impossible to delete the message with the DELETE KEY or scroll to another message with the arrow keys, without first clicking the message AGAIN with the mouse.

Expected results:

The focus should not change from the list pane. If there is a background programming action that is causing windows to move the focus, at least record the users apparently desired focus pane (by their last mouse click maybe), and restore it.

This will happen if "Find" bar is active in the messages display. Is thaqt the case for you?

If you mean the tool bar in the main tab (above all the panes), there is a quick filter box with the magnifying glass icon. If you mean the tool bar within the message pane, no there is no "Find" there... only the icons for "Reply", "Forward", "Mark as Junk", "Delete", and "More actions" gear icon.

Indeed I mean the later - in the message pane.

Does it happen in safe mode? https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/safe-mode

Does it happen if you have turned off the message preview (F8)?

Does it happen on plain text messages? (no html, no urls, etc)

Have you determined where focus has moved to? (is it in the folder pane, message pane, some other field?)
