User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux x86_64; rv:41.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/41.0
Build ID: 20151015193503
Steps to reproduce:
1A: Connect to a site with an extended validation certificate, for example https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/
1B: Connect to a site without and extended validation certificate, for example https://en.wikipedia.org/
2: Click on the padlock in the address bar.
Actual results:
A: The popup says:
Mozilla Foundation
Secure Connection [in green letters]
B: The popup says:
wikipedia.org
Secure Connection [in green letters]
The two popups are very similar.
Clicking on the right arrow for the non-EV certificate displays:
Verified by GlobalSign nv-sa
which is not correct: it is not verified, it is just secured.
Expected results:
It is much better to skip this intermediate popup and show directly the popup that displays after clicking on the right arrow. The non-EV certificate should say "Secured by" instead of "Verified by".
A: The popup should say, skipping the first, reduced, popup:
Mozilla Foundation
Secure Connection [in green letters]
Verified by DigiCert Inc.
Firefox verified that you are securely connected to this site, run by:
Mozilla Foundation
Mountain View
California, US
B: The popup should say, skipping the first, reduced popup:
wikipedia.org
Secure Connection [in BLACK letters]
Secured by GlobalSign nv-sa [Secured instead of Verified]
