Build 2002011906 is just fine. But build 20020126nn does this when a page with
Java is accessed:
INTERNAL ERROR on Browser End: Exec of "java_vm" failed: 2
<
System error?:: No such file or directory
Gdk-ERROR **: Fatal IO error 9 (Bad file descriptor) on X server :0.0.
INTERNAL ERROR on Browser End: Could not read ack from browser
System error?:: Resource temporarily unavailable

wfm using build 2002012608 on Win2k with JRE 1.3.1_02
What JRE version are you running ? Do you get the Talkback window ?
Severity: normal → critical

$ java -version
java version "1.3.1"
Java(TM) 2 Runtime Environment, Standard Edition (build 1.3.1-b24)
Java HotSpot(TM) Client VM (build 1.3.1-b24, mixed mode)
No talkback window appears but this Linux build doesn't have them, I understand.
It isn't hard for me to try another JRE, but has there been a significant update
to the non-beta environment since this one?

do you have a softlink in your plugins/ directory ? Make sure it's the file itself.
btw, any other Java site working like http://java.sun.com/
JRE 1.3.1 should be fine. It'd be great to test a Talkback-enabled build or to
run gdb to have some stacktrace.
Build available here:
http://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla/nightly/latest/mozilla-i686-pc-linux-gnu-sea.tar.gz
Linux builds 2002012006 thru 2002012508 are OK. Builds 2002012521 thru
2002012706 give me the following error when a page with Java is accessed:
****
INTERNAL ERROR on Browser End: Exec of "java_vm" failed: 2
<
System error?:: No such file or directory
Gdk-ERROR **: Fatal IO error 9 (Bad file descriptor) on X server :0.0.
INTERNAL ERROR on Browser End: Could not read ack from browser
System error?:: Resource temporarily unavailable
****
Running Linux (2.4.18-pre3 i586 Debian/Unstable) and Java 1.3.1.
Talkback doesn't work (on this bug) in any of the bad builds so far.

I had 20020118 (rpms downloaded from this site) with java working fine
I downloaded yesterday's rpm and installed them. As soon as i did that, java
sites crash all the time, with 1.31
Marking NEW. Seems linux-only
