We should investigate all of these issues together, and decide whether to remove third-party keyboard support altogether.

Chrome did the same, but not because of buggy text fields. They did it because they got crashes from third party keyboards.
SwiftKey 1.4.6 on iOS 9.2.1 behaves pretty well. See https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1250476 Marking as INCOMPLETE because it is not clear what the problem with SwiftKey is. Please reopen if there is a more concrete issue.
