We may also need to modify the DNT Learn More page, to say something like:
If Tracking Protection is enabled, Firefox will send the DNT header to websites that honor it, regardless of what the users DNT pref says. This is so that we can allow honest trackers and let them know when you don't want to be tracked.
The above wording is terrible, so please don't copy/paste that! But we can draft something better when the time comes.

Do not track learn more link: https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/dnt/
I've added this to the article: "If Tracking Protection is enabled, Firefox will tell websites that you do not want to be tracked, regardless of your Do Not Track setting."
This note also links to the Do Not Track SUMO page: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/how-do-i-turn-do-not-track-feature
Let me know if we need any other changes.

Hi Joni, this is not yet implemented and we don't have a timeline on it (likely next few months). I think we want to hold off on putting this in the SUMO page until we implement it.
We can work on exact verbiage, but the distinction we will need to make is something like: "When you are using Tracking Protection, Firefox will always send the DNT header to sites that honor it regardless of your DNT setting". Again, that is not implemented yet though.
Thanks

Sorry, we do not need to mention the selectively sending the DNT header, because this is not implemented.
We will need to update the legacy Tracking Protection page which is here:
https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/tracking-protection-firefox
With new screenshots.

This is not quite right. If Tracking Protection is enabled, Firefox will tell a select few websites that you do not want to be tracked, regardless of your Do Not Track settings.
The select few sites are sites that respect the Do Not Track header.
But, as Javaun said, this is not implemented or signed off on yet. So lets leave that part out for now. We can keep this bug open for tracking and work on the content once we have more details on the plan.
Sorry Joni! This has changed a few times. The strings for the screenshots may also not be final, so we should wait to update those too.

Joni, can you revert this change and remove this text:
Do Not Track: If Tracking Protection in Private Browsing is enabled, Firefox will tell websites that you do not want to be tracked, regardless of your Do Not Track setting.
from https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/how-do-i-turn-do-not-track-feature
Thanks!

I have commented this out in this (unapproved) revision:

Approved François' revision. Thanks!

This bug is about SUMO Knowledge Base content. Should it be moved to the support.mozilla.org product?

I note whilst we remain rolled back to Kitsune that the Nightly Fx55 about:preferences links to the archived article
> Tracking Protection in Firefox
> https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/tracking-protection-firefox
That has the discussion thread mentioned above by Alice.
