User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Ubuntu; Linux x86_64; rv:46.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/46.0
Build ID: 20160109065441

Steps to reproduce:

The contextual action bar for text selection has always been a little overzealous which makes it a painful user experience in itself. However Google's design team actually negated that in the floating toolbar they introduced to replace the pattern. The floating toolbar is far more contextual. Not only that, it enables us to fall back to the system for text selection and thus remove code and assets that aren't used elsewhere.
Just to be clear, the upsides are:
1/ a more hemogenous user experience
2/ a more modern user experience
3/ we reduce the filesize and remove code
4/ we fix long-standing bugs to do with the contextual actionbar that remain paper cuts
