dup of bug 121664?
It sounds similar to bug 121664, but I didn't use the profile manager. It might be the same issue.
related to bug 127683?
no - it isn't this problem specified in bug 127683.I followed the instructions to find and remedy the issue described there on my system, if it exists, and it turns out that it doesn't exist on my system. Good idea though!Which makes me wonder if the nature of the problem would surface because my HD is not the MacOS9 extended HFS format, rather, it is the Apple/Unix format (I think called A/UX). Might this cause a similar problem? i.e. the path would start with a "/" character. (although normal for unix, could Mac OS X try to return the 'name' of the drive in which it is installed [which it doesn't have on my system], in some case, causing a path screw up during the program launch?).
Reporter: Do you use a UFS file system and is this still a problem ?

yes, I use a UFS file system.I checked moz 1.0 RC1 (and previously 0.9.9) and the problem still exists for me, although it now displays the banner image at start, but crashes a second after that.Is there a way to run this from the terminal or a debugger and watch any debug messages roll by? Maybe I could provide a better clue.I tested it with a different user as well with no difference.
