Details
(Whiteboard: [necko-backlog])
User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.1; rv:38.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/38.0
Build ID: 20100101
Steps to reproduce:
I tried opening a local file which I do not have read permission to.
Actual results:
Nothing when browsing to the file and clicking on it -- the old state of the tab is kept. If I try accessing it by writing the (file://) URI to the file in the address bar, then the old URI is also restored.
(I can reproduce this with Firefox 38.6.1esr and 44.0.2 on Linux, and Firefox 44.0.2 on Windows.)
Expected results:
I would like a "Permission denied" page explaining what is going. IIRC this is what I got with some version of Firefox prior to 38, probably 31, the previous ESR branch, but the change can have been introduced in some intermediate release.
