I usually click on a link such as: https://treeherder.allizom.org/perf.html#/comparechooser?newProject=mozilla-inbound&newRevision=7d6e0141de4f and this populates the new revision with the field. I have to cut/paste the revision to get the auto revision finder to work.
This issue was so annoying apparently we filed two bugs for it. :P
