A context menu in the sync sidebar device list would be user friendly. 
We can find enough user scenarios to support having at least a mark as inactive (logical delete) option for both the devices and the tabs:
-reduced bandwidth and connectivity (especially mobile devices)
-heavy loaded devices & tabs
-changing devices and/or OS'es with high frequency. 
-sync issues with duplicating devices.
-device that is not relevant for the current user activities.

Today's workaround to actually do this, works only for tabs and it requires removing the tabs from sync target and doing a re-sync.

Bug 1269278 is a meta bug, whereas this is about specific UI changes, so unduping. Now FxA has device management we should reconsider.
