Details

User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 10.0; WOW64; rv:45.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/45.0 Build ID: 20160303134406 Steps to reproduce: For months I've been copying content from web pages and pasting the content into BlueGriffon 1.8 (Windows 10 Professional 64-bit). As of Firefox 45 content is pasted as plain text instead of HTML. BlueGriffon has not changed. Interesting things: * Rich text can be pasted into LibreOffice Writer. * Rich text copied from LibreOffice Writer can be pasted into BlueGriffon. * Viewing the clipboard after copying from FF 45 shows the correct HTML. However I note that besides the normal HTML, Firefox adds other special Firefox-specific media types such as text/_moz_htmlinfo, etc. As the problem occurs between FF 45 (source) and BlueGriffon 1.8 (destination), the latter of which is based upon a previous version of Gecko, perhaps FF 45 changed the content of its Mozilla-specific types used on the clipboard, and BlueGriffon is trying to use that for pasting and, not being able to, is falling back to plain text. (This is just a brainstorming guess; there are many other possible scenarious.) Actual results: I copied web content containing e.g. <em> and pasted it into BlueGriffon. The text was pasted as plain text; the emphasized text was missing. (This is one example; the same thing happens for lists, tables---everything.) Expected results: The copied rich text should have been pasted into BlueGriffon. The resulting text should have contained e.g. <em>, as it has been doing just find for months before FF 45.
I forgot to note that copying from Chrome 49 to BlueGriffon works as well (from the same page).
It's probably a dupe of bug 1255183 which about copying HTML text into Thunderbird. As Thunderbird and BlueGriffon both use Gecko as rendering engine.
Garret, I dupe your bug as it's the same underlying issue. Could you follow the discussion on bug 1255183, please.
