Details
User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 5.1; rv:45.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/45.0
Build ID: 20160303134406
Steps to reproduce:
1) Go to mozilla.org, highlight the area with the Firefox logo and the "committed to you..." text. Copy.
2) Compose an HTML email in Thunderbird and paste.
Actual results:
Image is replaced with alt-text and all text formatting is removed.
Expected results:
Image is embedded in email and formatting is retained.
I can copy from Firefox, paste into OpenOffice, then copy from OpenOffice and paste into Thunderbird and the image is kept.

Fixed in the upcoming TB 45 out in about two weeks. Try using a beta version in the meantime.
