User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 10.0; WOW64) AppleWebKit/537.36 (KHTML, like Gecko) Chrome/49.0.2623.87 Safari/537.36 Steps to reproduce: Start Thunderbird or issue the Get Messages command from the tool bar. Actual results: Thunderbird appears to send our logins to the email server. See message Connect to pop-server.nc.rr.com and then I receive "No messages to download". There is a considerable delay between seeing the 2 messages. Running Thunderbird 38.7.1 which was updated on 3/27/16. Since that update no messages have been retrieved from my pop mail server (Time Warner Cable roadrunner). I can send new messages but not retrieve them. Expected results: When I logon to my email server via webmail I see that there are 5 messages waiting to download for jleavell@nc.rr.com; 6 messages for nleavell@nc.rr.com; and 8 messages for renmarint@nc.rr.com. I expected all of these messages to be downloaded into Thunderbird.

The problem has been resolved. It may have had something to do with Norton Internet Security. After NIS was updated the problem was resolved. Thank you.
