(Whiteboard: tpi:+)

User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Ubuntu; Linux x86_64; rv:46.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/46.0
Build ID: 20160425115534

Steps to reproduce:

1. Temporarily installed the "classic theme" addon
2. Removed the "classic theme" addon again

Actual results:

Display went weird (i.e. it was neither the classic nor the new Aurora theme)
Display didn't get normal even after removing classic theme addon again

Worst problem is the Save As dialog which shows black icons in its left sidebar, and had many elements unreactive to clicks (column headers for sorting, most left bar icons, ...)

Expected results:

- Display should have stayed the same.
- All config should be in *one* place (i.e. ~/.mozilla/firefox) to make it easier to revert to a default state should anything go wrong.

+++++++++++++++++
Even after completely removing my profile, then uninstalling, purging and re-installing firefox, the save-as dialog still stays botched. Even removing ~/.config/gtk-3.0, ~/.cache/mozilla, etc. didn't help.
Rather than showing color icons in the left-hand bar as before (Places, Devices, Bookmarks), it now shows these icons in black-and-white.

For a while, the dialog was unreactive to clicks in column headers (sorting) and in left bar. However, uninstalling and reinstalling did fix that aspect (but icons still are black & white until now...)
After moving back one by one the directories from ~/.config, I noticed that what caused the unreactiveness of buttons in the Save-As dialog was the ~/.config/gtk-3.0 directory

The issue with the black icons is still not solved: these appear even on a brand-new user account.

libgtk-3 provides the save-as dialog.
Do you have any other gtk3 apps to test whether Firefox interaction is causing problems?
The gtk3-demo program from gtk-3-examples can test this.
Double click on "Pickers" and the "File".

Is this the same as bug 1268395?
Which version of libgtk-3 is installed?
Depends on: 1268395
Also, which GTK theme is in use?
I don't have "Places" or "Devices" with GTK+ 3.16.7.
I wonder whether the GTK theme is replacing the dialog.
Could the theme be oxygen-gtk?
It works in gtk3-demo. My version of libgtk-3-0 is 3.10.8~8+qiana.

The theme is oxygen-gtk. I disabled the ~/.config/gtk-3.0/settings.ini file by putting a tilde in front of the filename, and the open/save dialogs work again. (They look ugly, because it reverts to the default theme. But they work.)

I still have Places & Devices, BTW. That didn't change with the theme.
Summary: firefox' "Save as" dialog shows all black & white icons (were previously they were color) → [oxygen-gtk] firefox' "Save as" dialog shows all black & white icons (were previously they were color)
I'm not sure what is causing the black and white icons, but the lack of response to click I expect is when using the oxygen-gtk theme. I'll move the duplicates to bug 1268395, and leave this open for the icons.
Summary: [oxygen-gtk] firefox' "Save as" dialog shows all black & white icons (were previously they were color) → firefox' "Save as" dialog shows all black & white icons (were previously they were color)
No longer depends on: 1268395
