Closing a Twitter timeline and then reconnecting that account breaks the timeline

Details
I have two twitter accounts and closed one of the timelines. I then reconnected that twitter account, which caused the timeline to be opened again. When clicking on it there were two possible outcomes, depending on where the focus was previously:
When coming from another Twitter timeline the tweets from the other timeline would stay.
When coming from a different protocol's conversation it would just display an empty timeline.
The follower list and unread counter would still get updated.
Whenever I clicked on the timeline in question the following message was logged to the Error Console:
Timestamp: 25.05.2016 13:33:03
Error: TypeError: aName is null
Source File: chrome://messenger/content/chat/imconversation.xml
Line: 1085

Have you checked this is specific to Twitter?
Is it specific to TB, or does it happen in IB too?

I have not yet been able to check with Instantbird.
I don't have any way to reproduce the same circumstances (empty room or two accounts of the same protocol with autojoin) with any other protocol. I have on XMPP account which auto-joins a MUC and the same steps work without problem there, however that room has a 20 message buffer you get after joining. On IRC you get the topic and that also works. So my best guess is that this would be twitter specific, but I am by no means sure of it.
