User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 5.1) AppleWebKit/537.36 (KHTML, like Gecko) Chrome/34.0.1847.131 Safari/537.36 Steps to reproduce: In T'bird 45.1.0, changed the predefined SMTP server (necessary after changing internet provider) and then attempted to send emails. Actual results: I received an error message like "Unable to send mail as SMTP server is invalid" (can't remember the exact wording). No trace of messages in either "Sent messages" or "Saved drafts" (where they were previously saved). Closed and reopened Thunderbird and the old SMTP server settings were shown; still no trace of emails. Assumed emails were lost and rewrote and sent them again. After reboot, mails were correctly displayed in the "Sent" folder. Expected results: Normal sending of email and new SMTP server correctly displayed.
We have the opposite of this in bug 1270425/bug 780124 where message got an error, was saved but NOT sent. It seems like we should have a duplicate of this reported in the past, but I didn't find one skimming the list https://mzl.la/2HlFRPj I'd guess this happened in the same code path as bug 780124
