After Bug 1266450 lands, the Event Details tooltip of the markup view will use a HTML tooltip and might not have as much height available. The current design can become quite tall: event headers can be expanded to show 100px tall code snippets.

This was discussed between Bug 1266450 comment 22 and Bug 1266450 comment 25, and we agreed to simplify the tooltip:

Seriously, I'm happy if you would not implement getting rid of the code preview :) I use this very, very often (say 2 or 3 times a day). Workflow is kind of this: What are these events and what does it do in my (or some co-worker's) code. Much faster to iterate thru the events with the preview to see if these are what I am looking than if I would have to jump between Inspector and Debugger for each of them.

I'd appreciate if FF devtools user would be better integrated into the decision process, or at least ask the user base, because this is one of the features where FF devtools is better than Chrome and it's sad if the USPs are removed. (TBH, Which you do somehow, for instance, I learnt about this via https://discourse.mozilla-community.org/t/scrollbar-differences-between-light-and-dark-themes/13403/5)
Thanks for the feedback! We did ask on twitter about this : https://twitter.com/juliandescottes/status/741312196295196672

Most of the replies weer in favor of keeping the feature, which is why I didn't really move forward with this yet.
The current situation is still not good because of the double scrollbars issue, but I understand we need to somehow preserve the feature.
