From Bugzilla Helper:
User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Win98; en-US; rv:0.9.8+) Gecko/20020225
BuildID: 2002022503
Since about a week ago, Mozilla crashes randomly. Usually it's related with
changing focus from another app to Mozilla (so mozilla has to redraw the
window), sometimes clicking links inside mozilla, but I still haven't found a
way to reproduce the problem all the times.
Despite of always using talkback enabled builds this crashes never activate it,
I only get the windows' message saying "this application had made a General
Protection Fault", most of the times it says that the problems is in dibeng.dll,
and sometimes it has made reference to gdi.dll.
I think that the problems started with the 02-19 builds, but it's hard to find
if a build is bad or not. Sometimes I can be surfing for some hours without
problems, and then it crash. One day (I've tried a bunch of builds in this time)
it even crashed just after finishing painting the chrome on each start of mozilla.
I can use an older build (say 02-15 for example) without any problem. I've tried
creating a new profile (with the classic skin instead of the modern that I
always use), and after a while it has also crashed.
On a side note I think that this can also be related to another problem that I
have been suffering since the same time: I can watch TV with my PC, and the
program uses an overlay surface (directx overlay, nothing related to XUL) to
show the image. Currently after using mozilla it can't start and shows an error
message saying that there's a problem with the graphics.
I'm using a P2, at 350, 128Mb of ram, plenty of Harddisk free, and a Intel740
graphics card (8Mb).
The operating system is win98.
Reproducible: Sometimes
Steps to Reproduce:
Start mozilla, and browse for some time. Maybe it will crash. :-(

Can you upgrade your graphic card driver ?
It sounds that this is a driver problem...

No, I can't upgrade it. The graphic card doesn't have a flash memory so I can't
upgrade the BIOS of it, and Intel hasn't released a new version of the drivers
for my bios.
Besides that, if it is a driver problem, why did all the previous build worked
so nicely, and no other program crashes in my computer?
Keywords: regression
This sounds a lot like behavior I and a couple others have seen, though in
different context. See http://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=127513 .

Yes, it seems the same problem, although I haven't experienced the crash with
mail, so I've been searching only recent crashes in Browser, not Mail&News.
Thanks Pax.
I'll dup my bug hoping that the next build with the patch for 127513 also fixes
this problem.

Alfonso, does opening composer or message compose crash for you? If not, you
could be seeing a different bug.

As I said, I didn't experience the problems with mail but just in general with
the full browser. Now it's the second day the I'm using the 02-27-03 build with
the backout for 127513 and I haven't suffered a single crash in all this time.
So if this is not a dup then it's just WFM, in any case I'm happy again :-)
