User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux x86_64) AppleWebKit/537.36 (KHTML, like Gecko) Chrome/51.0.2704.84 Safari/537.36

Steps to reproduce:

The current binary version of thunderbird (https://www.archlinux.org/packages/extra/i686/thunderbird/) crashes directly on startup.
Also the nightly-built (https://aur.archlinux.org/packages/thunderbird-nightly/) crashes.

Actual results:

Thunderbird crashes with a coredump.


Expected results:

Thunderbird should not have crashed.

Have you been using nightly for a long time?

Your install time for these crashes is 2016-05-25. But you only just started seeing a crash now two weeks later?

Since I last updated thunderbird, it always crashed. I installed the nightly-built only so see if the issue was maybe already fixed. The nightly crashed from the moment when i installed it.

Oh, I failed to recognize these were old crashes. But you are also crashing Firefox. Like bp-e1cb1746-aeb5-439c-a427-a79322160525 and bp-bd34a1f7-0dfa-4984-8766-330162160525 (Firefox nightly)

Does crashing stop if you do any of the following:
* disable global search at tools | options | advanced | general ?
* disable checking of new messages at startup ?
* start thunderbird in safe mode ?   see https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/safe-mode

i had some problems to test, if some of your suggestions work. they dont, thunderbird keeps carshing.

I can not tell if hw acceleration is enabled, because I can not start thunderbird at all.
Tomorrow I will try another nighly build
