Bryan Kok pointed out in bug 1259519 comment 5 that Distribution is a singleton that references a Context. As such, this Context will never get garbage-collected.

How about calling getApplicationContext() on the Context object and referencing this? The application object never gets garbage collected and it doesn't look like Distribution needs a specific Activity/Service context.
