This looks like an add-on ;-) Can you provide it as an .xpi file? Can you also describe what it does. This is meant to be the project that replaces the Mork-based address book with something more modern, right?
(In reply to Jorg K (GMT+2, PTO during summer) from comment #2) This is a project of SCHOOL OF ENGINEERING AND COMPUTER SCIENCE/Victoria University of Wellington, New Zealand, please find initial details here: https://ecs.victoria.ac.nz/Courses/ENGR301_2016T1/Project11 See also comment 1 to link to the git project
As a member of the Thunderbird Council I'm well aware of the project ;-) I'd still like to have an XPI so I don't have to build it myself.
Jörg, see https://github.com/Thunderbird301/react-addon/releases for an xpi (however at least for me it seems to do nothing)
Please hold back. The project team is working hard for their last few weeks, and there is a lot under work to finish it for good milestone. github shows some interesting details (like using react); follow their progress there and you're welcomed to contribute there. Guenter
(In reply to [:MakeMyDay] from comment #5) > Jörg, see https://github.com/Thunderbird301/react-addon/releases for an xpi > (however at least for me it seems to do nothing) Once installed, you need to 1. select view > toolbars > customize 2. add "react" icon to toolbar 3. click on this icon to open the address book
To clarify the nomenclature based on information received by Günter (as far as I understand): * The VUW project orientated itself towards Mike Conley's "Ensemble" project (bug#841598). Hence the original bug title "Address book Ensemble Project". * The project was then named "React addon": https://github.com/Thunderbird301/react-addon * After the end of the study project, Günter carried on their work under the name "vContacts": https://github.com/neandr/vContacts source citation: « Thunderbird vContacts, was started in 2016 as a project of SCHOOL OF ENGINEERING AND COMPUTER SCIENCE/Victoria University of Wellington, New Zealand. The project was aimed to build a addressbook based on industry standards, using modern technologies and to replace the current data store (mork). The VUW realization was to build a Thunderbird add-on which is working locally (can be used in TB offline mode) with an underlying database (indexedDB), some interfacing to local files for importing/exporting of contacts and collections. The team decided to use REACT and modern HTML/JS/CSS techniques for the implementation. » https://neandr.github.io/vContacts/VUW-Project.md.html « TB vContacts is a refactor of the VUW project » https://neandr.github.io/vContacts
