It's nice that Firefox Sync can sync add-ons.
However, many add-ons can store preferences and other state, and it would be good if this could be synced too.
Some examples: Multifox profiles, ChatZilla channel lists, Stylish styles.
Of course, this requires cooperation from the addons as well. But Firefox should provide relevant APIs for addons to implement, such as "serialize your preferences/state into a format that can be stored in the Sync database", and "load preferences/state from such a format".

IIUC, this is more-or-less the problem that Bug 1220494 proposes to solve.
