This is an iPhone bug.

Tested on 6.0b4 and latest nightly (5d7484369).
I can confirm that this issue occurs. The video comes in full screen and starts playing after Firefox has been backgrounded and restored. On Safari and Chrome the video does not start in full screen after Firefox it has been reopened.
Issue is reproducible only on iPhones.

The fix for this issue has been uplifted on Bug 1358190. Marking as duplicate as the video now no longer starts in full screen after backgrounding and restoring Firefox.
