User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux x86_64; rv:52.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/52.0 Build ID: 20170109004008 Steps to reproduce: Went to hamburger menu and then preferences looking for add-ons. Actual results: Didn't find add-ons, went back to hamburger menu then found the add-ons. Expected results: Could have a link between add-ons settings page and preferences settings page, as both are settings and sometimes someone who's not used to Firefox can go for one looking for options that there are in the other and there's no search in these settings pages.
It has been like that since forever. Add-on settings are separate from options because they are optional. Many users don't know the existence of add-ons.
Component: Untriaged → Preferences
The latest preferences research has shown that people associate add-on features closely with preferences. As a first step to get those two closer together we should link the pages so that people have a visual clue where else to look when they accidentally end up in the wrong options. see https://docs.google.com/presentation/d/1529XCrC4UJNxdmyDtLoqovb6merRzN9Mk0XB63AcgO8/edit#slide=id.g184795c3b6_2_198

This is a first mock of how such a link could work.

(In reply to Markus Jaritz [:designakt] (UX) from comment #3) > Created attachment 8857471 [details] > Preferences-link-to-addons.gif > > This is a first mock of how such a link could work. Maybe it should be named "Preferences" instead of "Options" because the page URI is also about:preferences and not about:options and it's also named "Preferences" in the menu. ;)
(In reply to Sören Hentzschel from comment #4) > Maybe it should be named "Preferences" instead of "Options" because the page > URI is also about:preferences and not about:options and it's also named > "Preferences" in the menu. ;) On Windows we use "Options" instead of "Preferences".
