Steps to reproduce:

Start Earlybird 52.0a2 that work on Windows XP sp3





Actual results:

After some times, I got the message that an update 53.0a2 is available ;

So I update and Earlybird don't lauch on restart

When I try to start I got the message that this application is not a valid Windows application





Expected results:

I know that Aurora 53+ is not compatible Windows XP, so I expected to have a message that there is no update available for XP user

Someone should go through the dependent bugs of bug 1130266, there's probably a whole bunch of stuff that needs porting...

See also bug 1319167.  I don't think we need to bother with doing a watershed that firefox did - we only have ~1k nightly users.

Tonnes, can you arrange for a Thunderbird version of https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/end-support-windows-xp-and-vista ?

And looking forward, also earlybird/aurora channel ala bug 1318920

I blocked "Windows_NT 5.1,Windows_NT 5.2,Windows_NT 6.0" (coma separated OS prefixes) on the nightly and aurora channels.

I’d prefer a native English speaker also more familiar with product specs/limitations (Releng?) to provide this.
