User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 10.0; WOW64) AppleWebKit/537.36 (KHTML, like Gecko) Chrome/55.0.2883.87 Safari/537.36
Steps to reproduce:
I am using Firefox on Mac OS 10.6.8 64bit and I noticed could not upload files that are on a smb network in another Windows computer (this happens with other shares as a NAS). I cannot download or upload a file in a network share as it just shows all my network shares greyed out and cannot navigate them. This problem affects Thunderbird too, very annoying with e-mail attachments, the problem started from Thunderbird 41.0b2 , with 41.0b1 it worked OK.
If I run Firefox / Thunderbird in 32bit mode (ticking the "run as 32bit") in the app icon then the problem it's gone, so this affects only running 64bit under Snow Leopard 64bit. I tried Mac OS Sierra and was unable to reproduce the error.
Actual results:
Not abble to navigate the network shares to locate a file to upload / download from a server as network shares are grayed out
Expected results:
Abbility to navigate the network share structure folders.

Xtro1975, as of last Summer, Mozilla discontinued support for Mac OS 10.6. See https://blog.mozilla.org/futurereleases/2016/04/29/update-on-firefox-support-for-os-x/
Since you're unable to reproduce with a supported version of macOS, I'm marking this one won't fix.

It's clearly stated in the blog post you refer to that the ESR branch (+ Thunderbird) are still supported on OS X 10.6. This should be addressed :(
At least, for those like me that don't really have the choice, you can access the share(s) this way : open Finder, on the left pane, select your computer in "Devices", you'll see the share(s) on the right pane and they are accessible.
