We do not use votes to determine work priority. That decision is left for bug triagers. We will not be undertaking enhancements on voting. The current use case for voting is as a bookmarking system as described in bug 1350081.

This bug triager uses votes. How do triagers know when to reassess a bug based on new information?

(In reply to Karl Tomlinson (:karlt) from comment #3) > This bug triager uses votes. > > How do triagers know when to reassess a bug based on new information? Tell me more about how you're using votes to signal new information. What signals are you looking for? Would needinfo or another existing flag do what you need? I ask because I'd like to keep from overloading features so that there's consistent signaling throughout the application.

I don't have a good method to receive signals to indicate that a bug should be re-triaged, apart from watching bugmail. I'm keen to hear what others use, please? Votes are useful to me because I often get a bug report that I suspect is due to an obscure system configuration. If my suspicion is correct, then that is a low priority bug. When there are others voting for the bug, then it is an indication that the configurations leading to the bug are not so obscure, and the bug may be considered higher priority. I'd prefer to discourage me-too comments when they don't add information. Being able to tag me-too comments is useful, but is manual. I've found votes better to keep this information in a separate place from diagnosis and repair. The needinfo flag is useful when there is something that needs a response from me personally, but that use is not helpful for triage because triage wants a method where all triagers can watch or be notified. Are you imagining needinfo?imaginary-account-for-needinfo-requests-indicating-that-triage-is-necessary, perhaps? How would such a flag get set? I still suspect that may not be useful for tracking an indication of how many users are affected.
