What we are going to put there? Neither set of our context menus seems
appropriate. To have a message like: no pain no gain? I mean to ask what our
user expects there?

Can we stop the context menu from popping up? I guess that's complicated.

So I would go for second-best: put up a context menu whose only option is Select
All, grayed out.

I would think this could be done quickly with a minimum of risk. It could even
be checked in on the branch, maybe...

The context menu should not appear at all in this case if possible. Otherwise, 
the normal context menu for this pane would appear, with its items disabled.

In my opinion, there are three alternatives (sorted by preference):

1. One, single disabled menu item displaying "No message selected"
2. The original context menu, with all items disabled
3. No pop-up menu at all
