A user contacted my about the following: He uses the add on "Show Address Only" (https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/thunderbird/addon/show-address-only/) which adds a column showing the sender's e-mail address. The user feels that this function should be part of TB so one can check the sender address before opening a message. If the subject display is shortened, we get a tooltip showing the full subject, so how about a tooltip for the full sender address?

As far as I know, XUL trees only show a tooltip when the text for a cell is too long to fit. You can't specify your own custom tooltip.
