User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; Intel Mac OS X 10_9_5) AppleWebKit/600.2.5 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/7.1.2 Safari/537.85.11 Steps to reproduce: Upgraded Thunderbird from 45.8.0 to 52.1.1 Actual results: Messages downloaded from Inbox on charter.net to Local Folders Inbox arrive with little flame icon indicating that Thunderbird's Junk detection has flagged these messages as Junk. The messages Flagged as Junk sit in the Local Folders Inbox. I click on the flame icon for a message flagged as junk, and message is no longer flagged as junk. I click on the flame icon again to flag the message as junk and the message moves to the Junk folder Expected results: As soon as messages downloaded from charter.net Inbox to Local Folders Inbox, messages flagged as Junk are moved to the Junk Folder automatially.
Are you using POP or IMAP? If IMAP, could you set the preference mail.imap.filter_on_new to false to see whether that makes a difference. Tools > Options, Advanced, General, Config Editor. Gene, or another Charter problem?

This wasn't a problem I have seen with charter. For me, I think emails determined to be junk/spam are automatically moved to the junk/spam folder on receipt (but only if properly configured). The problem with charter (using imap, not pop) was that with default setting un-selecting junk for an email in junk/spam folder didn't "move" it back to inbox. This is fixed in my recent changes: force select etc. I will watch for this but don't get many junk/spam emails any more.

Could be related to bug 1367438.

Junk messages are automatically sent to the junk folder in TB 69.0b3.

Assuming that the option is checked.
