Details

User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Ubuntu; Linux x86_64; rv:54.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/54.0 Build ID: 20170616092053 Steps to reproduce: Replied to an e-mail. (This can be done in several ways. The only think that makes a difference here, though, is that the option to quote the original e-mail must be enabled). Put the caret on one line above the 'On <date> <person> wrote' line. Actual results: The composition font changes to the font of the 'on . . wrote' text (and what sets *that* font?). That change persist even if one moves the caret up some (any number of) lines. Expected results: The composition font should not change. (Perhaps it should change if one puts the caret within the quoted text. But when one puts it one line above the quoted text - or rather one line above the indicator that quoted text follows? No.) At the least the font should revert when one moves the caret up the window. There are various extant bug reports about similar issues. I have filed a new report (partly) because the particular behaviour that I report is (1) fairly particular, (2) fairly obviously undesirable and also, hopefully, (3) easy to fix.
I think it is well known what's happening here. Bug 1348750 covers this issue.
