User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux i686; rv:54.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/54.0 Build ID: 20170618030330 Steps to reproduce: On Arch Linux which currently uses the gcc 7 compiler, attempting to build+run thunderbird-gtk2 52.1.1 or 52.2.1 freezes for a few seconds, then segfaults, when switching to the Chat tab and connecting to IRC. I was able to reproduce this with the repo package for thunderbird, and after some experimentation discovered that rebuilding thunderbird using the https://aur.archlinux.org/packages/gcc6 compiler produced a thunderbird-gtk2 build which does not crash. Note that as per e.g. https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1422532 these builds all used ac_add_options --enable-optimize="-O2"
