1385451 - [sync-send tab] in Android "send to other devices" is not displayed

steps to reproduce:
1. open nightly on your android device
2. login to your sync
3. Open any http or https page and go to menu and then "Share"
4. Verify "send to other devices" option is displayed

Actual result
"send to other devices" is not displayed most of the time

expected result:
It should be displayed at all times as far as the user logged in to sync

Note: This is reproducible most of the time.

Signed in and refreshed sync again and again. I can see other devices, but I do have the option to send the tab.
It happens once in three tries at least.

I have a feeling this is related to weirdness around merging of client/fxa device lists for display purposes, e.g. work covered in Bug 1386016.

What do you mean by "I can see other device" - where?

Do you see other devices under the History home panel? Does History->Synced Devices reflect what you see on accounts.firefox.com?

Yes, the synced devices are in the history.

I see more devices in history than in accounts.firefox.com

I also tried this today:
1. Signed to my sync on my android device
2. Goto to fb.com
3. Disconnected all except the current device from accounts.firefox.com
4. Menu -> share
5. "send to other devices" option is not available

Abe, would you mind on your desktop computer:

1. Install the About Sync extension: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/about-sync/ (on Firefox Release, on Nightly the addon is not working at the moment).
2. Go to Tools -> About Sync
3. Copy paste or screenshot the content of clients - "Records (object)" (don't forget to open each [1, 2, 3, 4...] object).

1. Navigate to the "Devices and Apps" view: https://accounts.firefox.com/settings/clients
2. Once it's loaded, open the developer tools network monitor (Ctrl+Shift+E)
3. Press the refresh button bellow the devices list
4. In the network monitor, you will see a request to "sessions". Could you go into the "Response" tab and copy paste the response you got here?

The addon is incompatible with Firefox release 55.0.2 build.

We got this test report on "Expose Send Tab to non-FxA users" back from Softvision on Sept. 8th: 
Although the feature is in good shape we would recommend that Bug 1385451 is prioritized and uplifted before the merge, since this is directly related to making the "Send page to device" option discoverable to users.

Where are we at with the About Sync issue? It sounds like that is a blocker for being able to test further.

I found a way to install About Sync:

- Toggle extensions.legacy.enabled to true in about:config
- Go to the About Sync AMO page, click the "install anyway" link. This will download an .xpi file.
- Drag and drop the .xpi file inside the Firefox window, this will trigger an installation prompt

Version 0.15 is now available on AMO which works on all Firefox versions, including 57.
