The icon is deleted from the customisation pane


Expected results:

It should remain in that pane, but also appear where dragged.

Well, I presume it should remain in that pain; but just what is the import of that pane / what it is for?

This is how things have worked in Firefox since ~forever. We could, of course, make it do the same as OS X which took the opposite decision. In fact, we considered doing it for version 57, but we likely won't have time.

Anyway, calling either decision "dim" without any supporting arguments isn't all that helpful. Please consider being more constructive and less adversarial.

To list any tools you're not currently using in a toolbar or panel, so you can put them there, and conversely, to have somewhere to drop things that are in your toolbar/panel that you'd rather not have there. Some people prefer to have everything in their browser somewhere and so the pane is mostly empty; others prefer a more minimalist approach, and so lots of things end up in that pane, out of the way.
