I'm using Mozilla1.0 CR1 on Win2k.

(I have to pick a component so as to file this bug. Chinese languages was not
listed there, if "Broswer Localiztion" was not the correct PRODUCT, pls assign
this problem to the own it really it should go)

Problem:
Quite surprised to see that the chinese character in the tilte of the Mozilla
window was previously displayed correctly (this was really the nice feature that
surpass IE)now was garbled -- Chinese characters are displayed as bunch of
question marks.

To reproduce:
1. Lanuch Mozilla 1.0 CR1
2. go to: http://www.sina.com.cn/ and select some chinese articles, for example:
http://sports.sina.com.cn/n/2002-04-20/20263818.shtml
3. Observe the title

Mark this one as "cirtical", there must be some encoding problem in Mozilla.

Yes, it's a dup of bug 9449.

The SimpChinese title can not be displayed properly if you are using a
non-SimpChinese OS, but if using a SimpChinese OS, the title will display fine.

why is a dup? did you try use mozilla 0.9.9 or 0.9.8 to view the same
URL?
(i don't have PC on hand, can't verify at the moment)
I never(0.9.9, 0.9.8 even earlier) had this title display problem on SimpChinese
OS, and mozilla can not display non-ascii properly if using a non-SimpChinese OS
dup to bug 9449.

The current mozilla version is 1.0, if the title is failed displayed on a
SimpChinese OS, please re-open. Otherwise it's a dup of bug 9449.
Oops, sorry, I messed up it with MacOS X... not a new problem on win2k.

(On MacOS X the title in Chinese always displayed correctly)
